ADHD Screening
ADHD SCREENING
What the screening is
This screening is a structured one hour consultation that explores current ADHD related experiences and relevant childhood history. It helps clients understand whether their attention and behaviour patterns reflect recognised ADHD traits while exploring which areas of their life are impacted. The session offers a supportive space for clients to reflect on and speak openly about their experiences. The screening provides insight, guidance, and clarity that can support someone in deciding whether a full diagnostic assessment would be valuable. At the end of the session, recommendations for next steps may be provided, such as ADHD coaching, ADHD workshops, therapy support, or a full assessment with a qualified professional if ADHD traits are identified. Following the screening, a comprehensive report summarising the discussion, questionnaire results and recommendations will be shared with the client.
What a screening is not
This screening does not offer a formal clinical diagnosis and it does not replace a full assessment carried out by a qualified medical professional such as a psychiatrist or psychologist. The screening does not involve the administration of the DIVA five or any other diagnostic tool. It is an informative and exploratory session rather than a medical evaluation.
THE PROCESS
1
Prior to the screening
Questionnaires such as the ASRS, Wender Utah, and Weiss will be sent to clients to complete prior to the screening. These responses will then be reviewed and discussed during the screening.
During the screening
The screening begins with a discussion of the client’s current symptoms and how these affect different life domains, including work, study, relationships, and general wellbeing. As ADHD begins early in life, childhood experiences will also be explored. Guided questions informed by recognised ADHD symptom areas are used throughout the screening to build a clear understanding of the client’s experiences. The practitioner will then go through the completed questionnaires with the client. This involves reviewing the client’s responses in detail to highlight patterns, traits, and areas that may indicate ADHD related challenges. The discussion allows the client to reflect on their answers, clarify any points, and provide additional context where needed. This step helps the practitioner build a fuller picture of the client’s experiences and ensures that the information gathered is accurate and meaningful for guiding next steps.

At the end of the screening
Feedback is provided and possible next steps are discussed. If ADHD traits are identified, these may include a full assessment, ADHD coaching, ADHD workshops, or therapy support tailored to the client’s needs.
